Singapore Government not 'naive', says Shanmugam on allowing KTVs to operate as F&B outlets

"We were neither in cahoots with the KTV operators, nor are we as naive as some suggest", said Minister K Shanmugam on Monday (Jul 26) in Parliament in response to suggestions that the Singapore Government should have known that KTVs would engage in illegal activities before letting the businesses pivot to F&B.

"It will be wrong to treat all the 430-odd businesses - KTV operators, pubs, bars, who want to change to provide F&B - automatically as crooks," he said.

The KTV cluster is one of the major COVID-19 clusters in Singapore.
