Jonathan Logan Incorporated was a women's dress clothing that was popularized by David Schwartz during the 1940s and beyond. Having popular dress designers such as Doris Varnum and Liz Claiborne, numerous divisions opened for the clothing line and sales increased as the years went by. The company fell into demise during the 1980s after United Merchants and Manufacturers acquired the brand from Anaconda Copper in 1984. United Merchants began selling off divisions until the early 1990s, as Kmart was selling licensed Jonathan Logan clothing, the company couldn't hang on and closed mills and factories.
