The Mercedes 300 CE-24 C124 inherited great build quality and durable mechanical solutions from its older brother, the sedan. In addition, it offered something that the four-door version might have lacked a bit - an individual style, achieved by lowering the roofline, a steeper rake of the windshield and rear window, and the use of frameless doors, which made it possible to achieve a hardtop silhouette. Additionally, a powerful 24-valve engine was introduced in 1989. In this configuration, the car delivered great performance, especially in the rare configuration with the Getrag manual transmission, in the iconic one-rear layout.
