The Taliban's return to power is likely to cause a significant shift in the geopolitics of South Asia. China, Russia and Pakistan have all signalled readiness to engage with Taliban authorities. India has kept back channels of communications open with the Taliban. But India has not cleared its stand on whether it will recognise the Taliban as a legitimate government.
