At a press conference in Toronto, Justice Minister David Lametti announces federal funding to support Black and racialized Canadians, and to address systemic discrimination in the justice system. The government will provide $6.64 million over five years, plus $1.6 million annually to develop race and culture assessments. The assessments will help judges study how an offender has been shaped by racism, poverty, and marginalization. Minister Lametti is joined by his parliamentary secretary, Arif Virani.
