10,000 brave Afghans who helped British forces will be given permanent sanctuary in UK

AROUND 10,000 Afghans who helped British forces over the past 20 years will be given permanent sanctuary in the UK, the PM has announced.

And £12million will be provided to help refugees get school places and specialist language classes — with another £3million for NHS support.

Every family will be given a case worker to help them integrate and find a home, job and school.

Some 300 university scholarships for Afghan students are also set to be announced soon.

Launching Operation Warm Welcome, Boris Johnson said: “We owe an immense debt to those who worked with the Armed Forces.

"I am determined that we give them and their families the support they need to rebuild their lives here in the UK.”

Refugees who arrived under the Afghanistan Relocations and Assistance Policy this year can change their status for free to stay indefinitely and work.

Meanwhile, the EU was bogged down on how many Afghans to take.
