The first nor'easter of the season just came through Cape Cod and caused a ton of damage, and power outages. Massachusetts residents are going to feel this one for weeks. The storm intensified by nightfall on Tuesday October 26, 2021.
More than 29,000 people were already without power in Massachusetts as of 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, with winds gusting around 30-40 mph. As the storm strengthened the winds reached up to 70/80 mph winds throughout the night into Wednesday morning, causing serious power outages from downed trees, branches and power lines.
Hundreds of crews were spread out across the state, according to officials with both National Grid and Eversource, positioned to respond to outages from the extreme wind.
I went out Wednesday October 27 to see what kind of damage happened in my neighborhood, and was surprised to see how much damage the storm caused. It almost seemed as if a hurricane came through the area, destroying a lot of beloved places I know. Woodside Cemetery near my house has trees that have been completely uprooted. I hope everyone stays safe as the crews come around and cleanup the damage..
