What Are The Odds of That | Probabilities You Wont Believe

Millions of people buy lottery tickets each year, even though most people know their chances of winning are slim at best. Why do they bother, when taking home the grand prize is less likely than dying in a plane crash or being struck by lightning? It’s probably because humans are not particularly good at understanding probability, especially when it comes to guessing the odds of things that could happen in their lives.

The probabilities help to understand a wide variety of things or to give the appropriate dimension to some other things since they allow us to see them in a more concrete way. In this video we are going to present what the chances are of some events happening and those that are mostly unlikely to occur, but in many cases we have the perception that they are very likely or at least we think that they are more common than what they actually are.

Is a shark attack as likely as it seems in the movies? Do we really have a good chance of winning the lottery? What are the chances of a person being actually ambidextrous? The answer to this and other questions about probabilities are answered in this video.
